Celtic (Iron Age)
Celts lived in Britain and northwest Europe from 600BC to 50AD. We call this era The Iron Age because Celts discovered and used a new metal, iron.
Anglo-Saxon
The Anglo-Saxon age in Britain was from around 410AD to 1066. The Anglo-Saxons were a mix of tribes from Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Viking
The Viking age was from about 700AD to 1100. Vikings left their homes in Scandinavia and travelled by longboat to Britain and Ireland.
Norman
Although originally Vikings from Scandinavia, the Normans that invaded England in 1066 came from Normandy in Northern France and reigned until 1154.
