Ancient Greek fractional coins were tiny silver and later bronze pieces used for everyday market purchases like bread, wine or small tools. Centered on the drachm (~4.3g) and obol (1/6 of a drachm, ~0.8g), these subdivisions scaled down to fractions as small as 1/8 of an obol (~0.05g).
